Re big chains coming into our village:
Both Talbot’s and Williams Sonoma were approached (by the people that bought Kenny’s) and they both declined saying 5 Pts “wasn’t their customer”. Other than Walgreen’s, I don’t know of anyone else planning to move in.

  2. Empty Spaces Says:

Condo’s and Walgreens may not be a bad thing and the tunnel problems may be a blessing in disguise. They may come up with a plan that really complements the area versus that huge highrise.

Do you think City Council is that concerned about parking as quoted in The State today?

They act like they are possibly going to subsidize a condo development just for the merchants down here. Hog wash!

There is plenty of parking, the problem is the meters and tickets running business off.

Since we have free parking on Satrurdays on Santee Ave. , our business has at least doubled on Saturdays . Coincidence ? I seriously doubt it . Having to see my customers race out of my store on week days to try to outrun the meter nazi`s is bad for my business , and yours . The only people getting true free parking are the bars and restaurants . If the city is going to enforce Five Points , then it should be done on a 24 hour basis . Then we would all have the same stake in this mess that has been thrust upon us by the greedy .
